My Post for the day is again gender stereotypes.
Today I am discussing a sensitive topic and I kindly ask you not ignorantly comment because Facebook is an international communication site and we therefore don't know who has been through what on today's agenda.
You can vent out your anger as this platform is built for both opposite sex, male and female.
So I was walking with a friend down the street and three girls were walking in front of us, I was texting someone on my phone and my comrade cried out 'yhuuuu hayi hayi ayikho lento enxitywe ngulomntana', (This girls outfit is inappropriately). I lifted my eyes and looked at her and my comrade, what is wrong with way she is dressing. He replied to me and said 'hayi Ta bayela ayikho lanto, she can't walk like that there are sick bastards out there she will get raped'. not expensive wedding wears for summer
i liked one thing about his reply there are sick people out there, i love that part i love it because he showed me that rape is matter of person who is psychologically unwell, But however i disagreed about the outfit of the girl not because she was just wearing 4- 6 INCH PJ, but because it does not matter what she wears.
A woman does not get raped according to what she is wearing at that particular moment, that is a myth that has been passed on this 21 first century that makes it feel like its right but it is wrong. It is something we need to unlearn as well as rectify in this modern time. people get raped while they come work, with formal outfits, from church with outfits and even young children who can barely walk.
Take for example man in prison, and than you still have the guts to tell me that people particularly woman get raped because of their clothes i am sorry to say but that is absolute bullshit.
The are cultures in this 21 century according to
Eshowe.com
, whereby single woman wear nothing on top but only wear a skirt made out of grass and breaded cotton strings.
So let us stop this ongoing myths on stereotypes so we can avoid being in continuous catastrophic situations
