I know I've mentioned this a few times before but I feel very strongly about it and so going to share again...
Know your body!!
In the post natal period life is crazy... this small bundle of scrumptiousness has taken over all the hours in the day (and night!!) and you'll be lucky if you even have a hot drink all day. Trust me I'm in the thick of it with 2 under 2 - I'l be lucky if I brush my teeth and hair each day! However if you can give yourself one hour at around 6-8 wee ... ks to have a proper post natal assessment for you and your body it will make all the difference in your future.
The general guidelines for exercising are you may return following your 6/8 week GP check, however these checks are not thorough enough and generally speaking there are no 'hands on' assessments that are even done. Your body has been through a HUGE change - you've grown a HUMAN. Muscles, bones, joints have weakened and with the addition of hormones and your delivery (whether it be vaginal or c section) your body is not the same as it once was. I am very body aware and trust me I am itching to start jumping around again, however after having my 'Mummy MOT' today it's a reality check for me too that I need to concentrate on what seem the smaller things but actually will make the biggest difference in getting my body back.
Sorry for the long post but it's something I feel very passionate about. I see the amazing Bally Lidder in Hitchin - please message for more details xx
